- Elyashar, Jacob Saul ben Eliezer Jeroham
(1817-1906)
Palestinian Sephardi rabbi. He was born in Safed. He was appointed dayyan in Jerusalem in 1853 and became head of the bet din in 1869. In 1893 he became Sephardi chief rabbi of Palestine. He wrote thousands of responsa to questions from Ashkenazim and Sephardim throughout the world.
